Choosing a Sunblock

Always read the full ingredient list!

Marketing for skincare, and sunscreens and sunblocks specifically, can be very confusing and even misleading. Try not to get caught up in the SPF number (SPF 15, 30, 50, etc.). Instead look at the full ingredient list. Recently a client asked about a sunblock her Dr. recommended. It was SPF 50 and said 100% mineral. Initially I told her it sounded good because it said 100% mineral. However, when I looked deeper into the full ingredient list it had over 6 ingredients that rated moderate for organ toxicity and eye and skin irritation. The labeling made it sound good, stating 100% mineral sunblock. It did contain 11% zinc and was a mineral sunblock without any chemical sunscreens, but it had other nasty chemicals that we just don't need to be applying to our skin!

Sunblocks I Recommend

Pratima Neem Rose Face Sunscreen

Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint

Ilia Liquid Light Serum Highlighter

Instead I recommend going with this one. It is a higher zinc at 18.65%. Zinc + Organic botanicals. Zero chemicals! A more effective + cleaner + safer choice.

Another sunblock I love is from ILIA. This one is a Serum + Moisturizer + Sunblock + Makeup all in one! It is packed with Zinc + Squalane + Hyaluronic Acid.

I am also loving adding this product to my Ilia super serum skin tint for an added dewy glow + blue light protection. It is packed with marine actives + algae this gives the skin a beautiful glow while also killing bacteria, hydrating, + protecting!
